Handheld macro shots, they might be a little blurry :-), but they were sure a lot of fun!

Tiny hands
# 031/365
This shot concludes the first month of the year 2009 in pictures.
And what a way to close this month with our newest family member!!!!
It's just such a joy to see the world through his eyes.
For this photo I used the Tamron 90mm, handheld on "Flash Off" mode, and manual focus.

The Fallen Flower
# 025/365
This is a Japanese bronze-toned Hosui pear, which my friend Steve bought at Pike Place Market.
It's very sweet, it's like an Apple/Pear fruit and very tasty.
The textures are those of a pear skin, the shape is like an apple, and the tones are simply enjoyable.
Settings:
- Macro Lens Tamron 90mm
- No Flash
- Manual mode
- F2.8 - F11
- Tripod + Slider
For this set I used a DVD as the background to create interesting reflections and tones, so please visit my Flickr photostream to see the other pictures :-)

5th Photo in Explore, 2nd this month!
"Eaten by Denim" from the "Button" series (inspired by PhotoChallenge.org) made it to Explore; that makes it my 5th ever, and my 2nd one this month!
I attribute this to a more disciplined approach to participate in the community by looking at the work of others for inspirations, commenting, "faving", and most of all, finding inspiration within.
:-D

Fun in Downtown Seattle
# 024/365
My friend Steve D. is visiting from St. Louis and I volunteered to take him around town for a tour.
First we went to Seattle Center, where we walked around a little bit and then went up to the Space Needle.
Then we headed to Pike Place Market, where we had a nice Piroshki, and Borscht (soup) which was quite good for the low temperature. We also got some bakery goods (cinnamon roles and apple pie) which we tasted and saved for later. We walked around the market, and then got a cup of coffee at the first Starbucks.
Finally we went to Kerry Park for a mandatory skyline shot.
Equipment/Settings for this shot:
- Taken from the elevator of the Space Needle on our way down.
- No Flash
- Aperture: F7.1
- Hand-held
- Canon 18-55mm lens

The post-processing of this photo was inspired by the movie "The War of the Worlds" where giant mechanical aliens walk around the streets destroying and eating humans.

Settings/Equipment:
- Macro lens Tamron 90mm
- Automatic Mode
- Flash
- Auto-Focus
- Hand-held

Buttons
#022/365
Whenever you run out of ideas it's always good to look for alternative sources.Today I found my inspiration -again- on PhotoChallenge.org, a fun web site that is posting a challenge to take photos every day.
The buttons on my favorite jacket were the most interesting I found, although I admit I am a little biased because I like the jacket so much (that's what I'm wearing on my Flickr profile photo, by the way).
Settings/Equipment:
- Jacket on the kitchen table
- Tamron 90mm Macro lens
- Camera on tripod with sliding rail
- Twin lite flash MT-24EX
- Sto-Fen Omni Bouncers to diffuse light
- Aperture: F11
- Shutter Speed/Exposure: 30"+

First photo of 2009 that makes it to Flickr Explore
Yay! I started this year with the resolution to take and post pictures every day of the year. So far I have been loyal to my commitment and haven't fallen to the temptation of procrastination.
As a side goal, I was hoping that one of them would make it to explore, and one just did: "Welcome to a new today".
Thanks for your encouragement, your camaraderie, your helpful critique, and your kind comments.
